Just finished this last night and ADORED it. Still boggled by the complete originality of the world and the concept. Thanks so much for the recommendation...I was getting a smidge burned out on the current UF fare, and this perked me right back up!

That sounds very dire! I am glad you are so hooked. I found it paced really well, too, and really went in amazing directions at the end.

I just posted this over at Odd Shots, but I decided to share my pain here, too:

Okay, so I just have to share – I’m about 50 pages from the end of this book and the tension is ratcheting up every minute. I’m seriously excited and dying to find out how things get tied up, so much so that I was reading the book as I brush my teeth, grab my shoes, etc, on my way out the door this morning. I put the thing down to tie my shoelaces and grab my purse and I looked where I think I put the book…
It’s not there.
I looked every place I remember reading it this morning. Not there. And I’m about to miss my train.
People, I had to dash out the door without it. I can’t tell you why this is so terrible without giving away major plot points, but I’M AT A MAJORLY IMPORTANT SCENE and I WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NEXT!
Thank god I watched When Harry Met Sally at a young age, and adopted Harry’s “read the last chapter early on, in case you die before finishing the book” philosophy. I can’t imagine what torture today would be without having peeked ahead.

Why do I read reviews? To get EVEN MORE books for my MUCH TOO LONG list? Yeah, I guess so. I'm a little picky about UF, but I like the sound of this one.

@Kati: It's really really good. Bump it up on your TBR pile.

@LB Gregg: Yes! And thank you!

@Jill Sorenson: My fave read of 2010 by far as well.

@katiebabs: Yes, it is a bit bleak. I loved that about it.

@Chris: I think you'll like it. I will be interested to hear what people with more reading experience in UF have to say.

@Maili: You can preorder it for Kindle (available release day March 23), so I assume it will be available in other e-formats as well.

@Jill Sorenson: Yes, at least the Kindle version for sure, probably others as well.

@Leslie: No, she isn't. She is very much a regular girl. no special powers, not kick-ass. But she rises to the occasion when she has to in a very believable way.

I like that Justine doesn't sound like the standard UF heroine. She definitely has some unique issues. Looking forward to reading Mind Games. Great review!
