My son (who is also a D but is only 6) is also becoming fond of Roald Dahl who is a Very Good Writer, although he does not like the song the Oompa-Loompas sing about the evils of television after Mike Teevee gets shrunk. He worries that I will agree with the Oompa Loompas and throw our TV away. Phillip Pullman is very good too, isn't he? Have you read The Dark is Rising by Susan Cooper? I loved those books when I was your age, but I haven't seen the recent movie. (Oh and Jessica: hi.) Excellent review, D. If my sons weren't old already, I would tell them they should read this book too. I was ALWAYS trying to get them to read books. Most girls don't like yucky things but some do. When I was little I used to love snakes and liked to pick them up in the field that was behind our house. I hope your mom lets you do another review. I really enjoyed what your wrote about the book.
