I just came across this post, but I had to drop in and say Broken Wing was an unusual debut by an unknown author from a small press with a small print run. Kristie generated huge buzz that resulted in interest from other publishers and has lead to a very nice book deal, so not only did she help with the success of Broken Wing, she helped launch a career. I plan on mentioning her in the acknowledgements to that book’s sequel

Thank you Ms. James, for chiming in. It was Kristie’s email about Broken Wing that lead me to buy it and read it, as did so many other bloggers. We all know we can count on Kristie’s recommendations, and I enjoyed your book very much.

I have never met Kristie, and don’t see that happening any time soon, but my heart broke for her just the same as she dealt with her husband’s illness, and rejoiced when she got her job and when she went to RWA!
