Out of the box and reading my first book in under ten minutes. YES!!
Here are some blurry (sorry, I cannot take a picture to save my life) pics:

Cool packaging

Meet your paper sisters!

Fits on the nightstand

And we're off...
although let’s admit that this cover:
Is way more fun than THIS cover:

I’ll be taking this little baby with me on vacation next week, and hopefully will have a user report when I get back. At this moment, I must say I am so thankful I went the path of least technological resistance. This thing is idiot proof! (So says the idiot who had been using it for a total of 15 minutes! LOL!)
Here’s an unusually sane and accurate review of the new Kindle from today’s NYTimes. (Most reviews are either technopohobes who hate the idea of ebooks, Kindle fanatics who have lost all sense of proportion, or geeks who think one electronic device should do 80 million things.)

That’s so pretty! It looks like it has a brocade pattern on the cover–is that accurate, or an effect of the photo?
I can’t begin to tell you how much I have been lusting after the Kindle2! I am so jealous and happy for you at the same time! LOL Enjoy!
yay yay yay! I hope you two have a fun vacation together.
Also, meet your paper sisters was hilarious.
Idiot proof alas doesn’t make it Kristie proof. I still have yet to figure out MANY features on my cell phone – like how to turn it on. I took my digital camera with me when I went to see SYTYCD and had to ask my coworker next to me how to work the video feature – only to discover if I tried taking video I missed seeing the big picture of the show.
What’s keeping me from the emarket is fear – totally and paralyzing fear.
So I happy/envious that you and your Kindle are bonding. How much easier it will be to just take one small thin reader then a ton of heavy books when you go on vacation!
I’m excited for you to test drive and report back. I’m very attracted to the kindle but I saw the Sony at Borders yesterday and it was very sexy…. I’ll have to revisit your comparison blog in anticipation of your hands on blog.

Have you been reading the posts at DA? they all got Sony 505 readers and have been posting their thoughtd.
I can tell you that between the crisp high contrast type on the Kindle and the Sonys I saw at Borders. there is no contest, IMHO.
